C.O.M.E

COMMISSION ON MEMBERSHIP AND EVANGELISM

The role of the Commission on Membership and Evangelism (C.O.M.E.) is to invite and help people to come to Christ.

This ministry cooperates with the Pastor, Presiding Elder, and District Director of Evangelism in spreading the “Good News” of Jesus Christ and enhancing the spiritual life of the congregation.  The Great Commission of Jesus in Matt. 28:19-20 serves as the mandate to unify the Church to seek to save souls.  It says,

“ Therefore, go make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20) Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this:  I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”- NLT)

The C.O.M.E. is composed of representatives of various ministries of the Church including children, youth, and young adults. We are charged to create more opportunities to pray, fast, and to get into our Lord’s presence to do the “…greater works than these…” Jesus spoke about (John 14:12).  Our focus includes the utilization of each member’s spiritual gift(s); to love unconditionally God and all people; and to participate in effective outreach ministry, empowered by the Holy Spirit to help build a thriving community as an “Essential Kingdom Church” for the 21st Century.

The C.O.M.E. is made up of these Committees: **

  1. Prayer
  2. Greeters and Outreach
  3. Membership preparation and Assimilation
  4.  Attendance and Records

PRAYER

The Church believes strongly in the Power of Prayer!  Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) tells us, “Now glory be to God!  By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.” Opportunities for corporate prayer in addition to the regular worship services are:

  1. Intercessory Prayer Ministry – Wednesdays  7-8 p.m.
  2. Virtual Prayer and Fasting Vigil – Bi-monthly 7-8 p.m.;
  3. 21 Day Prayer and Fasting Vigil – Spring Annually  **

GREETERS

The Greeters will work to make sure that everyone who enters the church feels welcome.  Luke 10:27 (NLT) says: The man answered, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.  And, Love your neighbor as yourself.”    In addition to being a welcoming presence during 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services, Greeters are available whenever there is a need to serve.

We meet once a month on the 4th Sunday after 10 a.m. service.  Also, we welcome and host a fellowship tea for new members. **

OUTREACH

We work alongside the ministries of Angel Tree/Caring by Sharing and Ministry to Feed the Homeless.  We are also available to work alongside other ministries as needed.

All age groups are encouraged to join anytime to serve in the C.O.M.E. Ministry.
