What a joy to share this blog with you my Phillips Temple family and friends. There are several messages for us to embrace as we move into the new year. We must first look backward to see from where we’ve come. Then we must listen for God’s Word in order to see where God is taking us. Let us consider the following thoughts from the Lord.

1. BE ASSURED THAT GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU.
Romans 8:28 declares that God has a way for all things to work together to see you through. God is faithful to you as He promised. We are God’s people, and we are God’s church. The same God who brought us safe this far, we can take confidence in the fact that God will not abandon us but will safely lead us on to victory. If you are a human-appointed person you can only go so far with the things of God but rest assured if you are a God-appointed person (God has saved you, God has set you aside for God’s glory, God is your leader and guide) then God will safely guide you through all situations. You are here because of God, your creator.

2. BE JOYFUL AND HOPEFUL AS YOU CONNECT WITH ONE ANOTHER
We live in a world where technology allows us to connect with one another around the globe from our own living room. Now surely, if we interact with people around the globe, God will definitely allow us to connect with one another here and now. As a church, we support people around the world, we love persons around the world, we help people around the world, and we pray for people around the world. Our goal is to continue connecting with one another. Romans 12:12 encourages us to “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer; and to share with the Lord’s people who are in need.”

3. TRUST GOD
Surely during this pandemic, we know the isolation and feelings of being shut in. It is easy to feel stir crazy after a few weeks of being off work and staying home. For many of us, it’s been several months now and the question we often ask is “when will this all end.” In reality we don’t know when this pandemic will be over. We pray the vaccine will work wonders. But we know that God will see us through this Corona virus. And we are content that God, has support for us, has love for us, and is urging us to pray for one another. Isaiah 40:28-31 begins “Have you not known, have you not heard that the God we serve … faints not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding…”. 4. WAIT AND WORSHIP
Surely while we are sheltering in place, we can desire to move about, which seems unsafe at times. But our confidence is that God is in control. Philippians 4:7 reminds us not to be anxious. Perhaps you ask yourself, “how are we to not be anxious?” The key is being clear about who we worship. To be central in our prayer life and to praise God with our total heart. Let’s be still and know that God is our God and worship him. Worship can be simple sitting before the throne of heaven and offering adoration, devotion and celebration before God. Worship for us is a never-ending lifestyle of praying, singing and love that has no end. We are taught to worship God when things are going well, but also when things difficult. Even then God is to be praised.

STAND FIRM
In closing, let me add that God’s Word and God’s people are strength and a power that never ends. We stand firm because we stand with God and God is a firm foundation that can stand the test of time.
