Our Ministries
The ministries of our Church have been actively involved with the Indianapolis community over the years. Our goal is to share the joy of knowing and loving Jesus Christ. Our continuous outreach programs include a food pantry, a clothing store, a health and wellness program, assistance to families, nursing homes, and to our homeless friends. We also offer a garden with fresh produce in its season. We are excited to share the good news of Christ and the many things that are happening in our church community.
Everybody Counts
At Phillips Temple, every person is important and there is a place for you. Adult ministries, youth ministries, Children’s ministries. Bible studies, men’s fellowship, hospitality, outreach, music and evangelism. We believe that God has gifted every person with a talent and every person is invited to use their God-given gifts for the Lord.
Baptism
Baptism is offered as a way to help people live for Christ. It is a way to demonstrate that you have chosen a Christian way of life. You may also demonstrate your devotion by dedicating your child to God and teaching them to live for Christ. Services are provided to parents and anyone who seeks to be baptized.
Stewards
Stewards are vital to the Church’s effort to fulfill its mission as the body of Christ. Persons who are placed in the position of Stewards embrace the highest level of commitment to Christ and His church. Stewards play a major role in all areas of the church’s spiritual growth and especially that of church finance.
Stewardess
Through Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, we believe that people are following the will of Christ as stated in the Bible. These acts are significant to Christian living and to the Christian Church. This is the ministry that prepares for baptism and the Lord’s Table. These are the people who Love the Lord, God’s work and God’s people.
Ministry of Music
We praise the Lord with our music ministry. We sing songs of praises to God and worship God with rejoicing. We have several choirs that lead the singing. The Celebration choir, Men’s Chorus, Children’s Choir, or the Senior Choir. Everyone is invited to come and join in the praise.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
This ministry was established in June 2016 and is a health and wellness ministry focusing on bettering the quality of life for all. We are open to women, men and children. We meet each participant at their level of health and wellness. We come together as strangers, friends, families, churches, and communities to pray, work, serve, celebrate, and congratulate. We create, sponsor, and support health initiatives, workshops, work out sessions, community events, special projects, and much more.

A Place for Children
There is always a place for the youth and children to be involved in giving worship and praise unto God. They minister to God and to others by learning and growing in Christ.
Christian Education
The foundation of Christian living is faith in Christ. Teaching, learning and growing in the knowledge of Christ is the part of our mission that helps each member grow stronger in their faith. Classes are held for children, youth and adults. Classes are offered through Sunday School, workshops, Bible studies and studies within each ministry.
WALKER SCHOOL OF MINISTRY
The Walkers, Pastor Oliver and Helen have a passion for preaching and teaching the Word of God. They, therefore, started the Walker School of Ministry in 2006, and reopened again in March 2018. This school of Ministry is designed to provide an organized and structured series of courses for ministers and lay persons who want to improve their knowledge and preparation for ministry.
C.O.M.E. Ministry
The role of the Commission on Membership and Evangelism (C.O.M.E.) is to invite and help people to come to Christ. This ministry cooperates with the Pastor, Presiding Elder, and District Director of Evangelism in spreading the “Good News” of Jesus Christ and enhancing the spiritual life of the congregation.
We Care
The ministries of the church work individually and collectively to demonstrate our love for the community and one another. Caring ministries offer food, clothing, fellowship, evangelism and outreach. They include: Caring by Sharing Team, Missionaries, Young Adults, The Commission, Greeters, Ushers, ministers and pastors
New Members
New members are always welcome. It does not matter whether you are young or old, our goal is to welcome you with the love of the Lord. We would like to introduce you to other members and the ministries and make you feel comfortable. We believe that there is a place for everyone and we want you to enjoy being a part of Phillips Temple.
